Chicago is one of the top bachelor and bachelorette party destinations in the country, and for good reason — world-class nightlife, incredible restaurants, rooftop bars with skyline views, and a city that stays open late. The one thing that makes or breaks these weekends? Transportation.
At Royal Carriage Limousine, we run bachelor and bachelorette parties every weekend from March through October. Here’s everything you need to know from the company that’s seen it all.
Party Bus vs. Stretch Limo: Which One?
Party Bus (The Clear Winner for Most Groups)
A 20 or 40-passenger party bus is the default choice for bachelor and bachelorette parties, and here’s why: you can stand up, move around, dance, and actually interact with your group. A stretch limo seats you in a line — a party bus puts you in a lounge.
20-passenger party bus features: LED lighting, Bluetooth sound system, wraparound leather seating, cooler space for beverages, tinted windows for privacy. Comfortable for 12-16 people with room to move.
40-passenger party bus features: Multiple zones (front lounge, back lounge, dance area), two sound systems, larger cooler capacity, bathroom on some units. Ideal for combined bachelor/bachelorette groups of 25-35.
Stretch Limo (For Smaller, Upscale Groups)
If your group is 6-8 people and you want a more intimate, classic experience, a stretch limo works. Think high-end dinner → jazz club → late-night bar. Less party-on-wheels, more VIP transport between stops.
Stretch SUV (The Middle Ground)
A stretch Escalade or Navigator seats 14-16 comfortably. Higher ceilings than a traditional stretch, J-shaped seating, full bar area. Good for groups that want the limo feel but with more headroom.
The Best Chicago Bachelor Party Routes
Route A: River North Bar Crawl (Most Popular)
Start: Hotel pickup (downtown) → First stop: dinner at a steakhouse (RPM Steak, Bavette’s, Chicago Cut) → River North bars: Bottled Blonde, The Underground, Castle Chicago, Joy District → Late night: Boss Bar, Spybar, or Sound-Bar. This route keeps everything within a 10-block radius — your driver stages on Hubbard or Grand and is never more than 2 minutes away.
Route B: Wrigleyville + Lincoln Park
For the sports-bar-and-beer crowd. Start at a Cubs game or just hit the Wrigleyville bars: Sluggers, Murphy’s Bleachers, Old Crow Smokehouse → Move to Lincoln Park: The Pony, Kirkwood, Halligan Bar. More relaxed vibe, more space, fewer velvet ropes.
Route C: West Loop Foodie Tour
Fulton Market is Chicago’s restaurant epicenter. Start with rooftop cocktails at Aba or Raised → Dinner at Girl & the Goat, Momotaro, or Oriole → Post-dinner drinks at The Aviary or Lone Wolf. This route is about the experience, not the volume.
The Best Chicago Bachelorette Party Routes
Route A: Gold Coast + Mag Mile
Brunch at Summer House Santa Monica or 3 Arts Club Café → Shopping on Michigan Avenue → Spa stop → Pre-game at the hotel → Dinner at Etta, RPM Italian, or Maple & Ash → Nightlife: TAO Chicago, The Underground, LH Rooftop. The classic Chicago bachelorette.
Route B: Winery + Rooftop Bar Crawl
Start at City Winery (Riverwalk) or the tasting room at Cooper’s Hawk → Rooftop hopping: Cindy’s (Chicago Athletic Association), London House, VU Rooftop → Dinner → Nightlife. More Instagram-friendly, less club-heavy.
Route C: River Cruise + Dinner
Private bus to the Chicago River architecture boat tour (not the party boat — the real one) → Dinner at Smith & Wollensky or Joe’s Seafood on the river → Post-dinner cocktails at The Signature Lounge (95th floor of the Hancock). Classy and unforgettable.

Pro Tips From Experience
- Book 4-6 weeks out for weekend dates. Saturday nights in summer sell out fast.
- 6 hours is the sweet spot. 4 hours feels rushed. 8 hours is too long for most groups (energy fades after hour 6).
- Start time: 7-8 PM is standard. You’ll be done by 1-2 AM. Starting at 5 PM for dinner + full night is the premium experience.
- Designate one person as the driver’s contact. Not the bachelor/bachelorette — someone sober-adjacent who can make routing decisions.
- Pre-arrange bar entry. Some River North clubs have lines. Text or call ahead, or have the best man/maid of honor set up VIP entry. We can recommend which venues offer group packages.
- Hotel pickup and drop-off: Have everyone meet at one hotel. Multiple suburban pickups turn a party bus into a school bus route.
Combined Bachelor + Bachelorette Parties
The trend is growing. Start the night separately (bachelor group in one bus, bachelorette in another) and meet up at a combined dinner or late-night venue. We coordinate the two vehicles to arrive at the same place at the same time. Popular merge points: TAO Chicago, Studio Paris, The Mid.
Airport Transfers for the Wedding Party
If the bachelor/bachelorette weekend involves out-of-town guests flying into O’Hare or Midway, we handle airport pickups with the same reliability. One company, one coordinator, zero dropped balls.
And when the wedding day comes, you already know your transportation company. A lot of our wedding clients first rode with us on a bachelor or bachelorette party.
